Offcuts get a new lease of life with Hiut Denim and Yodomo
About Hiut Denim Co.
The Hiut story starts in Cardigan, an unassuming Welsh town of 4000 people, with a rich 30 year history of jean manufacturing.
Following the closure of the local factory in 2002, which put many livelihoods at risk, Clare and David Hieatt decided to take action.
David and Clare say, "We live in a town full of people who know how to make a great jean. They have spent decades making jeans."
They desired to found a company which would revive the craft heritage tightly woven into the town’s identity, and preserve the skills and knowledge within.
And so, Hiut Denim Co. was born.
With the motto, ‘Do one thing well’, the Hiut mission is simple. They use high quality denim which is expertly cut and sewn, to create jeans that will stand the test of time. Jeans which are made simply, and made well.
The Hiut team make just 100 pairs of quality jeans a week.
Hiut Denim's ethical credentials are high: they offer free repairs for life for their jeans, and even have a 'no wash club' to encourage saving water.
