If you’re a knitter, then chances are you’ll have a little hoard of leftover bits and pieces of yarn or balls that you’ve bought over time and hidden away.
Designer Emma Osmond shows you how to the most of that stash of yarn to create a striped blanket in her signature modern pared-down style.
This blanket has been designed to be a really fun way to bring colour into your home. The yarn has been doubled to create a fabric that is thicker and makes the blanket sturdier. It’s great for being used all over the house, or even outside for a picnic.
Skill level: Intermediate (knitting experience required).
Weekend Makes: Stash Knitting, by Emma Osmond, published by GMC Publications, RRP £14.99, available online and from all good bookshops.

Emma Osmond
Emma Osmond is the lead technical designer at Quail Studio. Having been taught needlecraft by her grandmother from a young age, it became Emma’s hobby and, today, it has now become her career. Emma worked for a number of years in the haberdashery department at Liberty of London where she just fell in love with the beautiful Rowan yarn products. While there, she had the opportunity to teach a number of beginners’ knitting and crochet classes, which were aimed at ‘time-poor’ career people, who may have learnt the craft when they were younger but just needed a slight confidence boost, as well as those who just wanted to make something handmade for themselves or their homes.
