Kogin embroidery comes from the Sashiko tradition in Japan, differing from Sashiko in its incorporation of counted threads. 

Learn how to embroider with this method and create intricately detailed patterns on textile with instructor Rob Jones. 

What's in the kit?

This kit comes with everything you need to get started right away and includes:

  • White or Black Kogin open-weave fabric (approx 20cm x16cm)
  • 15m skein black or white Kogin thread
  • Kogin needle
  • Modoko Kogin patterns (typically Tekonako “butterfly”, Neko no managu “Cat’s eye”, Utakogata “Scale pattern”, and Yokko gori “Group of four”
  • Border patterns (typically Nokogiri no ha “Saw’s teeth”, Gazashi “Moth stitch” and Tate waku “Rising steam”)

Start embroidering using this traditional technique and start creating unique patterns on your textiles.
