Textile Reuse and Recycling Map launches
We’re excited to launch a brand new project helping Tower Hamlets residents make smarter choices around clothing and textile waste — with:
- A printed map for those without smartphones
- A bespoke, searchable Google Map with additional information about services
- An online + printable guide to help communities better understand the textile waste issue and how to act
This local guide includes:
- Clothing + textile banks
- Repair services + workshops
- Pre-loved shops
- Sewing + mending courses at Idea Stores
- Local sustainable textile designers
- Reuse and recycling hubs
We wanted to uncover local hidden repair services tucked away in dry cleaners and other places — our map helps shine a light on these valuable local community resources.
The aim is to shift behaviour, reduce waste and keep clothing and home textiles in use for longer — by making it easy, local and accessible to do the right thing.
This project is a collaboration between Yodomo , HACKNEY WICK AND FISH ISLAND C.I.C. and London Borough of Hackney
See someone missing from the map? Let us know - we can update the digital map quickly, and there’ll be future editions of the printed map too!
The first edition of the print map will be going into local Idea Stores across London Borough of Tower Hamlets and The Trampery | Certified B Corp
Working to build more circular, creative and climate-friendly boroughs across London — who's next? ♻️
