Get creative this Christmas with hands-on workshops with Yodomo’s artists and makers at the SAMPLE market. Try willow weaving, bookbinding, basket-making, papercraft, festive wreath making and much more, with craft workshops suitable for all ages.
SAMPLE Christmas is a seasonal experience on Greenwich Peninsula showcasing some of London’s finest independent brands and makers. Shop and create alongside live music, street food vendors and family-friendly festivities. Curated by Hemingway Design, SAMPLE champions slow living movement, bringing together fashion, homeware and craft with sustainability always in mind.

Make a sustainable festive wreath with Hazel Gardiner
Create a mini festive wreath fit for your front door with floral artist & designer Hazel Gardiner.
In this workshop, you will learn how to decorate your wreath with sustainably-sourced British greenery and carefully selected dried materials using a natural vine 8” wreath base. Complete with a ribbon, your wreath will be ready to take pride of place at home or gift to a special someone.

Make ceramic Christmas decorations with Studio Ranj
Make your own ceramic Christmas decorations to adorn your tree, or give away as gifts.
In this 1.5 hour workshop, East London based ceramicist Ranj will show you how to craft your own custom decorations using air dry clay, which you can use to deck the halls time and time again.

Create a handmade basket with La Basketry
Try your hand at basket-weaving with this brightly coloured workshop, and make your own woven Christmas gifts with La Basketry.
Tabara N'Diaye is a basket weaver and co-founder of La Basketry, a homewares brand which specialises in baskets designed in collaboration with a group of female artisans in her native Senegal. She is on a mission to bring attention to some of the world's most ancient crafts with basketry techniques and modern creations that will inspire and delight.

Make a notebook using simple bookbinding techniques with Hanbury Press
In this workshop, you will learn to make an artisanal notebook from scratch.
Learn how to make a single section, quarter-bound cloth notebook, the perfect keepsake for storing your own thoughts or for gifting to the writer in your life. Choose your own cloth and get introduced to specialist bookbinding tools as well as some basic book-binding techniques. You will get to take home your very own personalised notebook and skills to continue making beautiful notebooks anywhere.

Make a traditional Polish 'kalinka' pom pom with Karolina Merska
In this workshop, Karolina Merska teaches you how to make a traditional Polish kalinka pom pom which can be used as a colourful bauble for your christmas tree.
The kalinka pom poms are an integral component to the pajaki, a traditional paper chandelier from Poland, adding splashes of colour to festivities. Take home your very own crafted paper pom poms and use them in chandelier designs, or as stand-alone Christmas decor.

Make a copper garland to add a warm festive touch to your home with Deborah Schneebeli-Morrell.
In this drop-in workshop, you’ll be shown how to transform soft copper into a garland you can use over and over again. It shines beautifully under twinkly Christmas tree lights or candlelight.

Visible mending: Make a denim sashiko style patch with Barley Massey
Sashiko is a style of stitching originating from Japan that is both decorative and practical. It was originally used as a way of reinforcing points of wear on clothes to make them both warmer and more durable.
You'll learn how to creatively add a sashiko-inspired patch to any garment you wish to repair using simple hand stitching of embroidery thread. You can get started with just a garment, needle and embroidery thread.

Christmas card illustration workshop with Isabella Mitchell
In this drop in workshop, you will be shown easy ways to create marbling-inspired festive cards. You will be able to use stencils and prepared collage materials, in addition to using high quality watercolour pencils to create your own designs.
Whether you seek to create a single momento to gift to someone special, or a matching set, this workshop is designed to make it easy for anyone to combine lettering, classic festive motifs and hand-drawn patterns and create their own signature Christmas cards.

Learn how to make your own Christmas baubles using fabric offcuts and giant paper pom poms.
Give fabric offcuts a second life with this inspiring festive workshop. Drop in anytime and the Yodomo team will show you how to transform scraps of fabric into Christmas baubles. Offcuts will be provided, or feel free to bring your own.
