Repair denim with visible mending

Sashiko is a beginner-friendly style of stitching originating from Japan that is both decorative and practical. It was originally used as a way of reinforcing points of wear on clothes to make them both warmer and more durable.

In this workshop, you'll learn Sashiko-style stitching and repair which uses a simple running stitch to create special patterns that can help to patch up your denim.

We will work from reuse denim to create a simple test sampler or bring your own denim to work on. As you gain confidence stitching you will find your own unique playfulness in the technique.

Take away a set of sample denims and other materials to continue your mending journey at home.
