The Future of Craft at London Craft Week, 2019

As a champion of craft and the maker revolution, Yodomo hosted a space at the Future of Craft event where hands-on creative workshops took place across four days.

The Future of Craft event, in collaboration with Design-Nation and Future Icons, took place throughout the Oxo Tower Wharf as a part of London Craft Week 2019. Over 1800 visitors came through the Bargehouse doors and explored the four floors of craft exhibits, talks, workshops and demos.

The exhibition and extended event included a curated line up of innovative and forward-thinking craft organisations, practitioners and collectives. Set against the raw, industrial surroundings of Bargehouse, visitors discovered a series of new works and installations by trail-blazing makers working in textiles, furniture, ceramics, lighting, metal and interior accessories.

The Yodomo space was adorned by colourful "Pajaki" polish chandeliers by Karolina Merska, dazzling against the exposed brick of the surroundings. We hosted a variety of creative workshops including terrarium making, binding a book, carving a spoon, sewing, linoprinting, knotting rope necklaces and paper crafting. Participants went away with new skills and hand-made objects lovingly crafted under the supervision of Yodomo's expert instructors.
