New Designers
In the summer of 2019, Yodomo was invited to host a number of maker workshops to engage attendees at New Designers, an annual showcase of budding British talent.
Hosted at the New Business Centre in Angel, London, the event featured more than 3,000 hand-picked and talented graduating students from across the UK. Each student presented their design works that culminated from their years of study and research, spanning everything from textiles to digital design.
Visitors and exhibitors got the chance to meet Yodomo instructors, including Tabara N'Diaye of La Basketry and artist Julia Clarke. Participants learned about their independent craft businesses whilst trying out weaving and knotting techniques.
The workshops granted participants hands-on experience and gave them new skills and a crafted object to take home. We received wonderful feedback from several participants, including those who said the Yodomo workshops was their favourite experience at the New Designers event.
