Crochet and knitting are two similar yet different crafts that are both versatile and fun, capable of yielding beautiful garments and accessories in a wide variety of yarns and materials. Both use yarn as the main material, but the differences are found in the tools used and the stitches, or the way the yarns are fixed together. With knitting, two knitting needles are used, and the stitches used are loops. With crocheting, a single crochet hook is used, and the stitches are rather more like knots. This makes the resulting quality of crochet more sculptural and structured. Knitting, on the other hand, lends itself to a softer textile finish, with fewer types of stitches to learn.
